Brigitte first told me about her wedding location over e-mail & I didn’t quite comprehend how incredible it was until their engagement session. She had chosen a campground that her family went to often that had a gorgeous spot full of huge pine trees. When I arrived, it felt like we were in northern Michigan. From that moment, we have been so excited for their wedding so that we could take photos there again. As it turns out, Mother Nature had very different plans for us. We started with their ceremony, followed by family portraits.. We were optimistic that the weather was going to hold out at least until portraits were done. The quick 10 minute drive to the reception location proved us to be wrong. As we pulled up to the venue, the rain started even harder. What did Brigitte & Tanner do? Hopped out of their vehicle, grabbed an umbrella & carried on with portraits. You guys. These two were a dream to work with- seriously! Brigitte was running around- everywhere I asked her to go, her dress completely soaked through every single layer… With the biggest smile on her face, not phased one bit. Tanner’s suit jacket was covered in water & all they said was “we will ditch the umbrella’s if it will make a better photo!” We wrapped portraits up faster than I’ve ever done them & made our way to their reception. Just before I left, the rain still hadn’t stopped so we ventured into the dark woods where those magnificent pines were & despite every obstacle we had, still managed to get a few photos in them! These two could have had totally different mentalities and could have been so upset with the cards Mother Nature dealt them but instead, they laughed, embraced it & remembered the true reason they were celebrating anyways. I can’t wait to see what their future has in store for them. If they can take the storms life throws at them even half as well as the storm they encountered on their wedding day.. I think things are going to be pretty spectacular.
